As part of the School’s mission to educate the whole child, athletics are an essential part of a student’s overall experience at Marymount. From volleyball to fencing to lacrosse, the athletics program at Marymount promotes good health, encourages lifelong fitness, and provides opportunities for leadership and collaboration. A successful team player understands fair play, puts forth her best effort, and seeks to foster team spirit and school pride.
Marymount believes that all students should have the chance to participate on an interscholastic athletic team where they can hone their skills, practice good sportsmanship, and learn discipline and time management. 50% of middle school students and 60% of Upper School students participate in after-school sports.
The Marymount Lions compete in a dozen after-school sports in the AAIS league. Intramural play begins in Class IV, and interscholastic competition starts in Class V. When possible, junior varsity and varsity subdivisions are offered in Upper School sports.
