Class Representatives and Executive Committee
Open to students in Classes VIII-XII. Enrollment is for the year.
The responsibility for Student Government rests with the five elected school officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Corresponding Secretary) and two elected representatives from each Class. The officers and the representatives for Classes X, XI, and XII are elected in April or May for the coming year. Elections for Classes VIII and IX are held in September. The group meets weekly to debate, discuss, and plan many aspects of school life, to coordinate upcoming projects and fundraisers for Zimbabwe, and to present proposals to the administration on behalf of the student body. These Tuesday meetings are open to all interested students. Class representatives spend additional time each week preparing for Class meetings, including the Thursday morning homeroom, performing assigned tasks, and planning special activities.
Social Events Committee
Open to students in Classes VIII-XII elected by their Class. Enrollment is for the year.
Meets 12:00 noon Monday.
The Social Events Committee (SEC) is chaired by the Vice President of Student Government and the two elected Vice Presidents of the Social Events Committee who also serve as the school’s Joint Schools Association (JSA) Representatives. The SEC is further composed of two representatives from each Upper School Class. The committee organizes dances and other social gatherings and assists with any social events that include other schools. All committee members are required to attend the school’s social events as well as at least two Thursday afternoon JSA meetings or Saturday JSA events during the school year.
