Annual Benefit
The Parents’ Association’s major fundraising event of the year is a gala event which provides an exciting and enjoyable evening for parents, trustees, alumnae, friends, and staff. Major prizes of the Benefit’s live and silent auctions include items donated by trustees, parents, faculty and staff, alumnae, and friends of Marymount.
Annual Benefit Journal
In conjunction with the Benefit, a journal is published with family photographs, Class photographs, Class messages, business advertising, and well-wishes. The Journal is a delightful and useful souvenir and keepsake which also raises funds for the School.
Christmas Fair
The Christmas Fair provides a beautiful start to the holiday season. The Alumnae Parlor and main floor lobbies are resplendent with gift items for sale. The opening night Preview Reception gives parents the chance to shop for the one-night only boutique and traditional fair items.
Father/Daughter Square Dance
Students in Classes IV-VII bring their fathers, grandfathers, older brothers, or adult male friends for a fun-filled evening of dancing, refreshments, and party favors.
Joint-School Committees on Middle/Upper School Activities
These committees consist of parent representatives from the single-sex independent schools. Their purpose is to encourage safe, well-chaperoned, age-appropriate activities for adolescents and young adults. They act in an advisory capacity to New York charities, some of which are Goddard Riverside, Grosvenor, Youth Against Cancer, and Yorkville Common Pantry, and assist in the organization of student social activities, including sports, social events, and community service. Class Lists are not distributed to charities.
Library Program
Parents are invited to assist our librarians in various aspects of library organization and book acquisition, including the Birthday Book Program and Donate-A-Book sales.
NYC Parents in Action
NYC Parents in Action is a non-profit organization devoted to disseminating information about substance abuse, its prevention and cure. Its efforts are directed especially at the parents and children of the New York City independent school community.
Parents’ League
The Parents’ League is a non-profit organization of parents in independent schools which provides for its members information on education, entertainment, and enrichment opportunities for families in New York City. Workshops and forums are offered on timely topics, and advisory sessions are held on schools and summer camps. Also, resource files are available concerning after-school activities, babysitters, young helpers, birthday parties, tutors, and family travel.
Parents’ Meetings / Receptions
These evening events offer parents opportunities to meet other parents and Marymount staff to discuss topics relevant to the class level and to socialize. These events are noted on the School calendar and held at Marymount from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Class Representatives are asked to help organize these evenings.
Safety Net and Safe Haven
Safety Net educates parents, teachers and children in matters of street safety. Safe Haven is a program conducted by Safety Net in the 19th Precinct. Merchants who join are asked to put a decal on the doors or windows indicating that their store is a place where a child can obtain assistance. The decal bears the words, “Safe Haven,” in black letters on a bright yellow background.
Safety Patrol
Safety Patrol is a neighborhood action shared by all independent schools in the area to make the streets safer for our students. Participation in the Safety Patrol is mandatory for Marymount parents with daughters in Classes I-IX. A full schedule is posted on the Marymount website. Patrol is Monday through Thursday, from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. New this year! We have added walkers for our 97th Street campus. They are highlighted in yellow on the walking calendar and walk on Wednesdays only.
School Store: TheStore@Marymount
Marymount provides a small on-site store which carries back-to-school items such as gym bags, Lower School backpacks, umbrellas, and play date pads. An order form with photos is on the school website. You may leave your order form and payment with the recpetionists anytime throughout the year.
Skating Party
Marymount students from Nursery to Class XII, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this fun-filled evening at Wollman Rink. The event is held jointly with The Browning School.
Summer Reading Book Fair
The Book Fair provides students from all divisions an opportunity to purchase books for both required and leisure reading. The Book Fair Opening Night Reception is the perfect opportunity to do your pre-book fair purchasing for parents, alumnae, and friends. (adults only)
Used Uniform Sales
Uniforms that are gently used and in good condition for all grades can be purchased at
these fall and spring sales. Donations of used uniforms are accepted at the School only
the week before the sale. Donations of Marymount Singers outfits, Communion and Commencement dresses are also needed and appreciated!
