Dear Marymount Parents,

Rosabeth Moss Kanter, a professor at Harvard specializing in strategy, innovation, and leadership for change said, “Creativity is a lot like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. You look at a set of elements, the same ones everyone else sees, but then reassemble those floating bits and pieces into an enticing new possibility.” At Marymount we are committed to giving students space to think, create, make, build, and iterate.

Spring at Marymount is a celebration of creativity. From this vantage point, nearing the end of an academic cycle, the creativity of the students shines in so many ways. I watched in awe as seven-year-olds explained the process of creating their inventions at the annual Class II Invention Convention. The girls’ ability to articulate their triumphs and challenges in designing, building, and testing their inventions was astounding.

The faith and support of our community has allowed the School to be a trailblazer in providing girls with an enriched learning environment full of experiential opportunities to take risks and explore the unknown. This has made Marymount’s contributions to the critical conversations regarding 21st century teaching and learning a reality.

Thank you for all of your unwavering support of the arts, athletics, and academics (specifically science, technology, engineering, mathematics) program enhancements made possible with the addition of space at the 97th Street Campus. It has helped to make this one a year to remember.

Have a wonderful summer,
Concepcion R. Alvar
