In the second week in October a group of Marymount alumnae flew to Italy for an event-filled week in Pisa, Florence, and Rome. Accompanied for the first few days by Headmistress Concepcion Alvar, the group embarked on a whirlwind tour of architectural and artistic sights, ranging from the leaning tower of Pisa to Michelangelo’s David to St. Peter’s Basilica to the Colosseum. The trip offered many opportunities for strengthening Marymount ties: as well as two meals hosted by Marymount grandmothers, the group visited both the Istituto Marymount and the Marymount International School in Rome. After a papal audience, many museums and restaurants, and eight days of sight-seeing, the group returned to New York delighted and inspired by their immersion in Italian culture!
