Reminiscing and reconnecting were the themes at Marymount’s annual Reunion in April, which this year celebrated classes ending in 4s and 9s. The Reunion tipped off with visits to Marymount classrooms, followed that afternoon by guided tours at the Met. A Friday night cocktail party was held at the beautiful Amercan-Irish Historical Society on Fifth Avenue at 80th Street.
Saturday began with coffee, tours of the buildings, and a panel of seniors discussing their Marymount experience. While the alumnae were impressed by the girls’ many accomplishments, they also enjoyed hearing the seniors describe their “Spirit Day” activities, some of which had been witnessed the day before. After the panel, The Athletic Department honored members of the Class of 2004 for their achievements in sports while at Marymount.
After lunch, the Class of 1999 took great pride in winning the spirit award, given to the class with the most number of classmates present at the reunion (20!). Sr. Kathleen Fagan ‘59 won the distance award for traveling all the away from London, and a member of the Class of ‘54 won for the most number of consecutive years donating to the Marymount Annual Fund – 31 years! Sr. Kathleen, Marymount’s former headmistress, was also presented with a painting by Jane Haher commemorating her 50th reunion.A short excerpt from the Marymount drama production “Into the Woods,” visits to the school archives, and mass in the chapel completed the 2009 Reunion.
