Physical Education

PEThe physical education program promotes fitness, coordination, expertise, and confidence through individual activities and team sports. Training in technique and strategy prepares students for competition. The emphasis is on participation, commitment, enjoyment, and growth.

CLASS VIII & IX: PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The physical education program for Classes VIII and IX has three components: team sports, dance, and fitness. Basic knowledge of team sports is reviewed and enhanced by the introduction of advanced techniques, strategies, and rules, which are then integrated into the game. Instruction in dance once a week for a semester introduces basic forms of classical dance, modern dance, jazz, hip hop, and folk dance. Fitness classes, once a week for a semester, focus on individual improvement and preparation for the President’s Challenge Fitness Test.

PEparkCLASSES X-XII: PHYSICAL EDUCATION ELECTIVES

Dance electives offered may include modern, jazz, liturgical, hip hop, classical, and folk dance. Team sports offered include football and European handball. A program which results in certification in First Aid and CPR is also offered. Activities offered vary each season.
