Senior Internship Program

Professional-StudentsClass XII students are expected to complete a Senior Internship as one of their graduation requirements. This extraordinary opportunity provides each student with tangible work experience that may help to influence her future academic and career decisions.

The Internship Program begins each year in early May and runs for three weeks. Each senior is required to work thirty to thirty-five hours a week without financial remuneration. Students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses participate part-time until they have completed their Advanced Placement exams. At the conclusion of the Internship Program, all students give oral presentations on their experiences to Classes X and XI.

The Internship Program has always been a rewarding experience for both the student and the organization that has sponsored her. In each senior class there are talented young women with excellent computer technology skills and with various interests in business, law, education, finance, medicine, art, architecture, fashion, publishing, media, marketing, social service, science, technology, and not-for-profit organizations, all ready to learn from these professional experiences.

Each student in the Internship Program is covered by Marymount’s health and liability insurance while attending her Internship. The Internship is a graduation requirement and is thus considered to be a part of the School’s academic program.

Marymount parents interested sponsoring an intern should contact Ms. Pauline Brookfield, Director of College Counseling, at 212-744-4486, ext. 112.
