Class VI and VII Day of Reflection
In preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, students gather for their first Marymount retreat to recognize their personal talents and to reflect on the ways in which the gifts of the Holy Spirit (wisdom, knowledge, courage, understanding, right judgment, awe in God’s presence, and prayerfulness) are present in their lives.
Class VIII Retreat
The Class VIII retreat at the Don Bosco Retreat House in Stony Point, New York, concentrates on themes of self-esteem and inclusion. The girls are encouraged through class-building activities to know themselves, especially in relation to each other. The retreat also serves as an ideal training ground for future Retreat Team leaders, for many of whom the Class VIII retreat is their first experience in leading the group. For more information about this year’s retreat, held on October 22, 2009, see the photo gallery.
Class IX Retreat
A Marymount tradition for over twenty years, Class IX spends two days each September at the Frost Valley YMCA camp in the Catskill mountains. Led by members of the religious studies department, Class IX advisors, and student retreat leaders, students enjoy team-building challenges and develop relationships with their new classmates. For this year’s retreat, held on September 17-18, 2009, see the photo gallery.
Class X Retreat
The Class X retreat is an opportunity for students to reflect on the themes of service and empathy. Using their forty-hour community service commitment as a starting point, the students are encouraged both to think about the connection between faith and action and to notice God’s presence in the lives of those who are poor and marginalized. For more on this year’s retreat, held January 21-22, 2010, see the photo gallery.
Class XI Retreat
The Class XI retreat provides students with time to reflect on their relationships with each other and with their other schoolmates as they prepare to assume the leadership of the School. The servant leadership of Jesus is the model used for reflection on their role. This year’s retreat will be held April 19-20, 2010.
Class XII Retreat
A culminating experience for Marymount students, the Class XII retreat allows seniors to reflect upon their high school experience as they see themselves in relationship to God and to others. They look to the challenges of the coming years and how they can respond as thoughtful and caring people. This year’s retreat will be held on May 25-27, 2010.
