Diversity Committee

Marymount’s Diversity Committee, composed of both faculty and staff, meets once a month to discuss issues of diversity within the School community and to plan diversity initiatives throughout the year.  The Committee’s mission statement articulates and expands on Marymount’s goal of establishing unity through diversity.

In support of the School’s Mission Statement the Diversity Committee strives to:

  • Recognize the many facets of a diverse society, including race, religion, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic level, mental and physical differences, age, and sexual orientation;
  • Create a climate of respect and appreciation for the diversity of the cultures within and beyond the school community;
  • Promote multicultural awareness throughout the curriculum;
  • Serve as a resource for students, staff, and parents;
  • Recognize and support differences in ethnicities, religious affiliations, racial groups, socio-economic backgrounds, and sexual orientations;
  • Provide a forum for consciousness-raising discussion;
  • Organize diversity training workshops and events for the larger Marymount community.
